The free SA Health RSV immunisation education program remains available via Immunisation Provider training and education

Your efforts in raising awareness and promoting RSV immunisations is key to the program’s success.
Maternal program
- Abrysvo vaccine
- Available through the National Immunisation Program
- Offered in pregnancy from 28 weeks gestation
- Protects babies from birth
Infant program
- Beyfortus (nirsevimab) immunisation
- Available from 1 April to 30 September 2025
- Offered to all unprotected newborns at birth and infants less than 8 months of age:
- Whose mother was not vaccinated; and
- Whose mother was vaccinated 2 weeks prior to delivery
- Infants with risk conditions for severe RSV disease, regardless of maternal vaccination as per the Australian Immunisation Handbook
- 50mg dose less than 5kg, 100mg dose greater than 5kg first RSV season
- Offered to at-risk children less than two years of age, as per the Australian Immunisation Handbook through GPs and some paediatric clinics
- 200mg dose, 2nd RSV season
Important note: Check vaccination status of mother as per the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) prior administering Beyfortus to babies less than 8 months of age.
