12-Month General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) Requirements & Quarter 4 Payment Eligibility
Within this article there are 3 key topics covered:
- 12-month servicing requirements under the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI)
- Quarter 4 payment eligibility
- HPOS letters and reminder notifications
The General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) has now reached the 12-month milestone. For patients registered in the first quarter (from 1 July 2024), Quarter 4 (Q4) marks the completion of their initial 12-month care period.
To remain eligible for Q4 incentive payments, these patients must have received the following from their nominated Responsible Provider:
- 8 regular services, and
- 2 care planning services
A visual summary of these requirements is available here.
What if both care planning services were not completed?
If the Responsible Provider did not complete both care planning services within the 12-month period:
- The practice and Responsible Provider will not receive the Q4 GPACI payment for the patient.
- The Responsible Provider must complete at least one care planning service in Q1 of the next 12-month period (i.e. by 30 September 2025).
If this service is not completed by 30 September, the practice and provider will be ineligible for any GPACI payments for that patient for the entire new 12-month care cycle.
HPOS Letters and Notifications
Practices will have received a letter via HPOS outlining:
- Patients who did not meet the requirements
- The associated Responsible Providers
Reminders:
- Turn on HPOS mailbox notifications (individual and/or organisational accounts) to receive alerts about new correspondence.
- While some mail may be general, others may relate to important actions, such as failed payments.
Important Patient Record Update Notes
If a patient is deceased, please ensure their record is updated in the system - do not remove their details or their Responsible Provider from the GPACI register.
