Anti Racism training 1

Adelaide PHN Staff Engage in Anti-Racism Journey

Anti Racism training 1

In May, staff at Adelaide PHN took part in Reconciliation South Australia's Anti-Racism Kuru Wiya/Kuru Palya program, helping to stimulate behaviour change through greater understanding.

The training creates a safe learning environment that supports people to embrace difficult conversations and confront and dismantle systemic racism and prejudice in all its forms.

Staff participated in deep and sometimes uncomfortable conversations to help initiate positive change in the workplace and in their own communities.

The training offers tools for leaders, allies, bystanders, those who have been impacted and those who have been called out.

It was designed to create an open, respectful learning experience, using adult learning principles and extensive research to identify critical themes that impact human behaviour and learning.

What is reconciliation?

At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

It is an ongoing journey. While generations of Australians have fought hard for meaningful change, future gains will take just as much effort.

Everyone can become a leader of change in creating a better society. Being an anti-racist is a choice that reflects growth and a desire to challenge and be better.
