teenager talking to doctor

Are your adolescent patients waiting too long for mental health treatment?

You’re invited to join a study trialling While We Wait – a new digital service designed to support teens (14 to 17 years) during the wait for treatment.

Co-designed with young people and GPs, the service delivers brief, evidence-based self-management strategies directly to a teen’s smartphone – helping them stay engaged and supported while they wait.

What this service offers you

  • Better support for adolescent patients during the wait period
  • Stronger engagement and trust with young people
  • Access to practical insights to inform your clinical decisions
  • Additional support for patients between appointments

You’ll also receive CPD! GPs are invited to attend a free 1-hour webinar, Making the Wait Time Count: Practical Tools for GPs, led by Associate Professor and GP Caroline Johnson. The webinar provides practical strategies to support patients during the wait time. Completion of the webinar is required to be eligible for the study but does not commit you to participating.

Reimbursement

GPs can receive up to $250 for participating. Adolescent participants can receive up to $80.

About the study

Led by Professor Bridianne O’Dea (Flinders University), in partnership with Central Eastern Sydney and COORDINARE Primary Health networks. Approved by Flinders University Human Research Ethics Committee (#8728).
