Cultural River Torrens Tour

As Adelaide PHN embarks on the development of our third Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) members of our Reconciliation Working Group, were joined by other Adelaide PHN staff for a walk through Kaurna country with Jack Buckskin from Kuma Kaaru to learn more about the importance of the Waterways, local Native flora and fauna and the Kaurna history of campsites, and other sacred sites, including Adelaide’s first school right on the River Torrens.

The River Torrens was been a source of inspiration for the Adelaide PHN during the development of our current Reconciliation Action Plan 2023-2025, with the River Torrens being central to our Artwork, created by Jordan Lovegrove, Ngarrindjeri. Later, we chose to strengthen our commitment to reconciliation by honouring the local Kaurna people, the Traditional Custodians of the Adelaide Plains by naming our office meeting rooms with appropriate Kaurna names, including Karrawirra Pari, Karra, Warnpa and Karku.
