dsDNA Testing at SA Pathology

Older man sitting with young female doctor, while she takes his blood pressure.

From Wednesday, 8 October, SA Pathology will enable back-up on-site BCP dsDNA testing using the QUANTA Flash chemiluminescence (BioFLASH) platform, ceasing the requirement to send dsDNA testing interstate.

The QUANTA Flash platform has different performance characteristics; equivocal and positive results will undergo confirmatory testing via Crithidia luciliae indirect immunofluorescence.

Please note, the QUANTA Flash method has different dynamic and reference ranges to the FARR Radioimmunoassay method, and results are not directly comparable.

SA Pathology is continuing to assess a replacement platform for the discontinued FARR Radioimmunoassay method. In the meantime, the return of on-site testing reduces risk and delayed turnaround times.

For more information, contact the SA Pathology switchboard on 8222 3000 and ask for the on-call Immunopathologist.
