GLP-1 Weight Loss Medications
There is a complex relationship between GLP-1 RAs and eating disorders, impacting on those currently
experiencing an eating disorder and those at risk. It is important that prescribers, including GPs and nurses, are aware of these risks and embed comprehensive assessment and monitoring as part of GLP-1 care.

Continued funding for eating disorder initiatives:
NEDC welcomes the Federal Government’s commitment of $26.0 million over two years to support people experiencing eating disorders and their families and supports. This funding includes an extension of NEDC’s funding through 2026–28.

The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) is dedicated to building an accessible and equitable system of care for all Australians experiencing eating disorders, their families, supports and communities.

NEDC is a national collaborative platform for experts by lived experience, clinicians, leaders, researchers, and  services. We generate unified, evidence-based sector positions and consistent national standards, which includes the National Eating Disorders Strategy 2023-2033, and translate these into practical action for the prevention, identification, treatment, and support of eating disorders. NEDC provides leadership for the sector, supporting collaborative work and non-duplication.
