Expanded SA Funded Measles Vaccination Program

The SA Funded Measles Vaccination Program is being expanded from 3 September 2025, with the requirement for overseas travel for adults removed.

Program eligibility:  Adults born during or after 1966 who have not received two doses MMR vaccines, and children aged 6 months to less than 12 months who are travelling overseas.

The program is available through immunisation providers registered with the Vaccine Distribution Centre (VDC).

MMR vaccine will appear as State Funded on the VDC ordering system.

National Immunisation Program (NIP) stock is only available for children aged 12 months (MMR) and 18 months (MMRV) as per the NIP schedule, people less than 20 years requiring catch-up doses, refugees and humanitarian entrants of any age.

Providers must report all state-funded doses to the Australian Immunisation Register under “other” and report any adverse events to SA Health.

Note: Infants vaccinated before 11 months still require their routine 12- and 18-month MMR doses. Infants vaccinated between 11-12 months do not require the 12-month dose as this will be accepted on AIR.
