Free child mental health resources to support GPs and nurses working with children aged 0-12 years

General Practices are often the first point of contact for families when they have concerns about their children’ social and emotional wellbeing, making GP and Primary Health Nurses well-placed to engage with children and parents to support child mental health.
Supporting children’s mental health does not need to be difficult or time-consuming. Many of the skills GPs and nurses use every day can be applied to support children’s emotional wellbeing through identification, prevention and early intervention strategies. Emerging Minds’ comprehensive range of courses and resources provide GPs and Primary Health Nurses with the confidence and skills to work in a therapeutic way with children and families who present to their services.
Emerging Minds resources have been created in consultation with GPs nurses and families and provide practical tips and approaches that can easily be employed in your everyday work. For a comprehensive list of resources tailored specifically for GPs and primary health nurses check out the Emerging Minds GP Toolkit where you can find podcasts, assessment tools, webinars and interactive eLearning courses. This includes eLearning courses that have been accredited with the RACGP and ACRRM for Mental Health CPD and Focused Psychological Strategies Skills Training.
We also have a resource hub for families. Emerging Minds Families has been designed to provide families with evidence-informed child mental health tools and strategies. You can refer families to the hub as a supporting resource following a consultation.
Emerging Minds is fully funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to provide practitioners and families with free, evidence-informed resources for child mental health.
