Free professional development for Registered Nurses – valued at $2,500

Registered nurses working in aged care are invited to take advantage of a fully funded professional development opportunity through the Gerontological Nursing Competencies (GNC) Program.

The GNC program consists of two sequential six‑month courses designed to strengthen specialist gerontological nursing skills and support nurses to help older people live well. By completing the program, participating nurses build a comprehensive professional portfolio demonstrating their capabilities as gerontological nursing specialists.

Why enrol?

Thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, eligible registered nurses can access this program FREE of charge (normally valued at $2,500).

Study credit and career progression

For each course completed within the two‑course GNC program, nurses receive recognition of prior learning (RPL) equivalent to one postgraduate subject.
This credit can be applied towards further study, including:

  • Graduate Certificate in Gerontology
  • Master of Nursing (Clinical Leadership)
