General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) End of Quarter Requirements: July–September 2025
We’re approaching the end of the 1 July – 30 September 2025 General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) assessment period. Now is the time to make sure your practice has met all requirements for this quarter.
What this means for your practice
- Each patient’s 12-month assessment period begins in the quarter they are first registered for GPACI.
- To remain eligible for payments, practices must ensure all quarterly requirements are completed for each registered patient.
- Payments are assessed in line with the GPACI Guidelines in place at the time of assessment.
Action required before 30 September 2025
- Review patient registrations and confirm requirements are met (see guide for generating a patient list via HPOS).
- Ensure systems and documentation are up to date.
- Refer to the GPACI Payment Eligibility Overview for details (page 11).
Please withdraw deceased patients from the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) as soon as possible. When withdrawing patients:
- Do not remove a Responsible Provider – past relationships must remain for payment reassessment.
- Do not delete patients or GPACI from MyMedicare unless added in error.
For deceased patients, withdraw them from MyMedicare but leave their GPACI record.
See slides 24 (Withdrawing a patient) and 28 (Amending GPACI) in the HPE resource MYMEDM02 – Managing patient registrations.
A reminder of the quarterly assessment periods are as follows:
- 1 July to 30 September
- 1 October to 31 December
- 1 January to 31 March
- 1 April to 30 June.
