GPs Strengthen Skills in Eating Disorder Care
On Wednesday, 15 October, Adelaide PHN hosted a successful education dinner for general practitioners at The Terrace Hotel, focusing on identifying and responding to eating disorders in general practice.
Guest speaker Dr Jemma Elliott, from Adelaide Health Care, brought her extensive experience in eating disorder management to the evening, sharing practical insights and strategies with fellow GPs.
Part of the Right Care Right Place: Eating disorder care in my community project - a pilot initiative by Adelaide PHN in partnership with the National Eating Disorders Collaboration - the dinner address the growing challenge of body image distress, disordered eating, and eating disorders in primary care.
With more than 30 GPs attending from across the Adelaide PHN region, the evening highlighted the crucial role general practitioners play in supporting patients experiencing these complex conditions.
