Why is this grant opportunity important?
- The NBCSP aims to reduce the incidence of, and illness and mortality related to bowel cancer in Australia through early stage screening when treatment is most successful.
- In the Adelaide PHN region participation in the program is suboptimal with 46.5% participation in 2022-2023 (AIHW, 2025).
- Talking about cancer screening with a health professional can be key in helping people decide to complete a bowel cancer screening test.
What is the AAM?
- The AAM allows primary care providers to bulk order NBCSP test kits and issue them directly to patients via the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR).
- The AAM supports the NBCSP mail-out model and aims to remove barriers and improve participation in the NBCSP, particularly for patients that are less likely to screen or have never screened.
This activity is made possible through funding from Preventive Health SA.
