Important Updates on MyMedicare and General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) Registration Process
MyMedicare Update
As of 1 September 2024, all general practices across Australia will be assigned a new accreditation certificate number by their accreditation provider:
- For practices that are currently registered with MyMedicare, please update your accreditation certificate number on the 'Organisation Register' in HPOS
The Department of Health and Aged Care, along with The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and Services Australia, requires all accredited general practices to receive a new certificate number. This update is purely administrative, and your accreditation status remains unchanged.
General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) Registration Process
The GPACI requires you to be registered for MyMedicare before you can link the incentive.
Services Australia have published information for practices about the process in PRODA and HPOS to register the practice to participate in the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive, and how to link Responsible Providers and patients.

- Adding the MyMedicare General Practice in Aged Care Incentive
Please note: A recent issue has been identified affecting PRODA. A new error message when attempting to link providers to the General Practice in Age Care Incentive and patients in HPOS.
The Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) has confirmed this is a newly identified issue and are actively working on a resolution.
In the interim, please note the following:
- The 0831-warning message appears when a provider is not eligible for the entire period that the incentive indicator is assigned to a patient. This is a warning, not an error, and does not prevent you from adding an incentive indicator or assigning a responsible provider.
- To proceed after the message appears, simply select ‘Confirm’ again to complete the linking or assignment of the provider.
- You may need to select ‘Save’ twice to ensure the changes are applied.
- Updated wording for the 0831-warning message will be released this week to reduce any potential confusion.
