Meeting invite - Eating disorders and gender & sexual diversity

Adelaide PHN is hosting the next meeting of our Eating Disorder Community of Practice on Monday August 4th via Teams with the theme of eating disorders and gender and sexual diversity.

This session explores how eating disorders and gender & sexual diversity intersects, the potential impacts of this intersection, and key considerations for supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals with eating disorders, along with helpful literature for ongoing learning. Participants will also have opportunities to connect and network with other Adelaide health professionals working in eating disorders. Our guest speaker is Majella Jones, Accredited Practicing Dietitian and PhD student, whose work primarily involves the intersection of gender diversity, neurodivergence, disability, and eating differences and difficulties.

Guest speaker:

Majella Jones, APD
I'm an Accredited Practising Dietitian and PhD student based in Naarm on Wurundjeri Country. My work builds upon my own lived experience approach as a queer nonbinary, disabled, and multiply neurodivergent person with a lived experience of an eating disorder. My work primarily involves the intersection of gender diversity, neurodivergence, disability and chronic health, and eating differences/difficulties. In all areas of my life, I am involved in advocacy and education which focuses on increasing accessibility and inclusivity for marginalised folks across healthcare, systems, and broader community contexts.
