NALHN Outpatient Referral Hub Now Open

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) has launched the NALHN Outpatient Referral Hub to receive all outpatient referrals from 5 November onwards. The hub will become the central point of submission for all referrals to the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals and will have a single fax number and email address.

To submit a referral to the new NALHN Outpatient Referral Hub, the details are:

The Outpatient Referral Hub has been developed in response to feedback from NALHN's external referring community about the difficulties of sending referrals to NALHN to access outpatient services. Currently, outpatient referrals are made only via paper-based systems such as fax and post. The existing referral fax numbers will be phased out over the next three months and replaced by the new single number above, and referrals will continue to be accepted by post.

When sending referrals by email, ensure you are using encrypted email functionality, and all the information is contained in a single PDF document. Do not include patient information in the body of the email. For further information, see Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

GPs are encouraged to use the SA Health Clinical Prioritisation Criteria (CPC) for referral criteria. CPCs are standardised statewide referral criteria designed to support safe and equitable referral and triage of patients to public hospital outpatient clinics within South Australia. For further information about CPCs, see www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/cpc
