Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre Expands to Second Location

Mental health support for people in Adelaide's north has received a boost with the Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre officially opening its new location at 7 Oldham Road.

It was officially opened on 2 September, as we joined Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Emma McBridge, South Australian Minister for Health and Wellbeing Blair Boyer, Member for Spence Matt Burnell, LELAN Chief Executive Ellie Hodges, plus the team from Sonder to mark the occasion.

The expansion means the Northern Adelaide Medicare Mental Health Centre is now operating across two locations in Elizabeth, making it easier for people to access the right support when they need it.

The new site at Oldham Road will provide free, immediate walk-in mental health support, with no appointment or referral required. It will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team of 15 health professionals, including a psychiatrist, social workers, mental health nurses and peer workers.

The existing centre at 21 Gillingham Road will continue to offer booked appointments for short to longer-term mental health support, including counselling, psychological therapy, peer support, group-based therapy and care coordination.

All services are free, confidential and available to people aged 16 years and over.
