Nurse Practitioner Commissioning

The Nurse Practitioner and Team-Based Primary Care Pilot (the Nurse Practitioner Pilot) aims to enhance the availability and accessibility of comprehensive primary care to the Adelaide community in areas of high need. 

The intended objectives of the project are:

  • Increased access to timely, free, and comprehensive medical appointments for vulnerable populations identified in Adelaide region.
  • Enhanced patient satisfaction and experience
  • Increased practice efficiency and productivity
  • Identified innovative models of care.
  • Strengthened collaboration and communication among healthcare teams.
  • Enhanced clinical outcomes and patient health outcomes.
  • Increase workforce capacity

3 Nurse practitioners have been employed by General Practices, located in areas identified as having high needs and low access to General Practitioners.  

To date the NP Pilot has provided access and free services to over 600 consumers. 

This Pilot has been co-developed in partnership with the Department of Health and Wellbeing.
