Powerful Voices Unite at Australian of the Year Luncheon
On 20 June, Adelaide PHN supported the 2025 Australian of the Year Luncheon in Adelaide, celebrating the incredible achievements of Neale Daniher AO, 2025 Australian of the Year.
Neale and his wife Jan Daniher shared a deeply moving reflection.
“No matter the odds, no matter the diagnosis, we all have the power to choose to fight and our attitude. The true measure of a person lies in what they choose to do and how they put that into meaningful action.”
His words resonated deeply with attendees and spurred generous support for Fight MND, contributing to a national movement that has raised more than $115 million for life-saving research.
As part of the special luncheon, an In Conversation Panel was hosted, featuring some of South Australia’s most distinguished individuals.
Professor Leah Bromfield, South Australian of the Year, highlighted the importance of reshaping systems to protect children and promote long-term well-being, including supporting children at risk in our community.
Amber Brock-Fabel, Young South Australian of the Year, is on a mission to amplify the voices of rural youth, presenting their ideas to the government.
Irfan and Sobia Hashmi, South Australia’s Local Heroes, discussed their innovative approach to building healthcare capacity and addressing isolation in regional communities.
Though not present, Charles Jackson OAM, Senior South Australian of the Year, sent a heartfelt message celebrating Wilpena Pound’s World Heritage listing, reaffirming his commitment to advocating for First Nations language and cultural preservation.
