Practice Nurses and Practice Managers Join the Primary Care Sub-committee

Are you passionate about improving patient access to urgent and emergent care in South Australia?

We are seeking practice nurses or practice managers with a special interest in providing expert primary care advice to join the Primary Care Sub-committee of the Urgent and Emergent Care Statewide Clinical Network at The Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Healthcare (CEIH). 
Statewide Clinical Networks are an important statewide engagement structure to connect clinical experts, consumers, and other collaborators on agreed priorities to improve the South Australian health system.

What is the purpose of the primary care subcommittee?
-    Provide expert input into redefining patient pathways into urgent and emergency care. 
-    Identify opportunities for innovation in the context of existing and planned urgent and emergent care services in SA and their integration with existing community primary care services. 
-    Work to understand drivers of Primary Care referral to Emergency Departments and barriers to accessing alternative pathways. 
-    Identify opportunities to facilitate increased efficiency, integration, and clear communication at the interface of primary and secondary/tertiary care.

What are we looking for? 
Membership of the sub-committee comprises general practice representatives and consumers across all areas of South Australia. We are seeking practice nurses and practice managers who:
-    Are passionate about improving primary and secondary/tertiary care and experiences for patients, their families, loved ones, and care givers.
-    Provide leadership within the health system both clinically, organisationally, and consumer focused across all sectors.
-    Assist in the analysis of current and projected service demand across all aspects of service delivery.
-    Assist in addressing clinical variation and improvements.
-    Can communicate effectively, work well in a team and are good problem solvers.

What are committee members roles and responsibilities?
-    Attend quarterly meetings and complete tasks/actions between meetings in agreed timeframes. 
-    Actively engage, participate, and contribute to decision making and consensus building in response to agenda items, projects and other topics raised by the clinical network. 
-    Assist in the review and analysis of information and data and ongoing projects related to primary care statewide as aligned with urgent and emergent care objectives. 
-    Provide expert input in the development of future clinical service profile and distribution, and clinical practice, in both metropolitan and country areas. 
-    Assist in identifying opportunities to improve service performance and consumer health outcomes.

Note that for the provision of reimbursement and or sitting fees to consumers and community representative(s) and external stakeholders involved with the CEIH Statewide Clinical Networks are available as per the SA Health Sitting Fees and Reimbursement for External Individuals Policy
