Professor Stacey George Delivers Keynote at International Conference
Stacey George, Professor of Primary Care and System Integration was invited to be the keynote speaker at the 2025 International Conference of Long-Term Care Innovation on 10-11 July in New Taipei City.
She was invited to address long-term care policies in Australia and provide insights into current strategies and future directions, her presentation titled 'Promoting Health Ageing by Maximising Participation and Quality of Life across the Ageing Trajectory: Implementation, Evaluation and Australian Policy'.
The international conference created a collaborative platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange, primarily focused on the themes of Innovative Care, Smart Technology, and Ageing in Place.
Key takeaways from the conference included:
- Cross-sector collaboration (local national governments, health, aged care and social supports) is essential to support healthy ageing
- Opportunities for technology as an enabler with projects, including in residential aged care to use AI to support note taking and regular observation to enable more direct care time for older people
- Design of aged care services from Japan, integrating with local communities, older people sharing their skills and private not-for-profit co-funding
Stacey was also in attendance for the 25th International Conference on Integrated Care in Lisbon in May, which brought together 1,200 delegates from more than 60 countries.
The three-day event highlighted the complexity, power, and promise of integrated care, with a strong focus on the importance of real partnerships between patients, professionals, communities and systems.
