RACGP Fellowship Support Program improvements

Following extensive consultation with registrars, supervisors, training sites and stakeholders, the RACGP is implementing phased improvements to the Fellowship Support Program (FSP). These changes aim to strengthen training quality, enhance education, and support the long-term sustainability of Australia's general practice workforce.

Phased improvements

The improvements will be introduced across three application periods:

From 2026.1: Applicants can only commence training at accredited sites with accredited supervisors. From 2026.1, current FSP registrars who change their training site or supervisor must ensure the site and supervisor are accredited against the RACGP Standards for general practice training. All other program requirements remain unchanged.

From 2026.2: Applicants must complete the national entry assessment to support consistent selection across RACGP programs.

From 2027.1: The FSP will provide stronger support, enhanced training experiences and closer alignment with RACGP educational frameworks.
