Remembering Lives Lost to Family and Domestic Violence
On Wednesday, 7 May, Embolden held a candlelight vigil at Government House to mark Domestic and Family Violence Remembrance Day - a time to honour those whose lives have been taken by violence.
Adelaide PHN's Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Program Lead, Aun Bertram was invited to lead the state's candlelight ceremony and minute of silence.
The vigil was attended by Her Excellency Frances Adamson, Governor of South Australia, the Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP, and leaders across the FDSV sector. Together, we remembered all those lost - those we know and those we know too little of.
In 2024, 79 women nationally were killed due to gender-based violence. So far this year, at least 14 more have lost their lives. One is too many.
We remain committed to working together for a future free from violence.
