SALHN DATIS Service Update: Medicines Information Reminder

The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) Drug and Therapeutics Information Service (DATIS) is coming to an end on 30 June 2025.

DATIS has provided practice support, clinical advice, medicines optimisation and educational outreach visiting services to primary care practitioners across South Australia for many years.

Over the years, the environment in which the DATIS service has operated has continued to change, with a steady reduction in the number of requested visits to primary care practitioners. This coincides the with establishment of a number of alternative services available to provide drugs and therapeutics advice and support to primary care practitioners, aligned with the redirection of federal funding priorities.

The funding sources for SALHN’s DATIS service have ended. The difficult decision has been made to transition away from providing the DATIS service at SALHN, with changes to the service aligned with funding availability and to ensure the services SALHN provide are within our service delivery scope.

It is important to SALHN that GPs and GP practices have access to alternative services to support their practice. Please see below some suggestions for medicines information.
