School Immunisation Program rates decline
South Australia’s School Immunisation Program provides free recommended vaccines for South Australian student in Years 7 and 10.
There has been a decline in recent years of students receiving free vaccines at school. Consider speaking to young people and their parents/carers about their vaccination status to ensure they are fully vaccinated.
Catch up vaccines are available for free under the National Immunisation Program for people with a Medicare card under 20 years of age (under 26 years for HPV), who did not receive vaccinations as a child or at school.
While the vaccines are free, if you are a GP or immunisation provider, you may charge for the appointment (excluding pharmacists delivering the National Immunisation Program Vaccination in Pharmacy Program (NIPVIP)).
