Secure Message Delivery of letters relating to outpatient care
Starting Thursday 27 November 2025, all outpatient administrative correspondence generated by Sunrise relating to public hospital referrals, waitlists, and appointments will be delivered to you electronically via Secure Message Delivery (SMD). For this, your practice should have SMD selected as the communication preference in the Health Provider Registry (HPRy).
This enhancement will make communication more real-time for GP practices currently using SMD. Practices not using SMD will continue to receive correspondence via their current method.
To know more about SMD, visit the secure messaging page on the SA Health website.
To activate SMD for your practice, please ask your admin team to view this graphic (PDF 140KB).
