Suspension of Strongyloides testing
Effective immediately, SA Pathology has suspended Strongyloides testing until further notice. This action follows the TGA recall of Strongyloides IgG kits used by SA Pathology after higher-than-expected rate of false positives were identified due to an issue with a serum control.
SA Pathology will recommence testing once new control serum is sourced, and validation testing is complete. We anticipate testing will return in the last week of September.
Impact
SA Pathology has conducted a thorough review to identify any affected results and has contacted the requesting doctors to advise them of the likelihood of a changed result.
No patient harm is indicated.
Revised results will be provided once confirmatory testing has occurred.
