The Chronic Wounds Consumables Scheme (CWCS)
The Chronic Wounds Consumables Scheme (CWCS), which supports eligible patients in managing chronic wounds by providing fully subsidised wound care products.
What is CWCS? - CWCS covers the full cost of essential wound care items—such as bandages, dressings, and adhesives—for eligible patients. Health professionals can enrol patients and order products via an online portal or phone. These items are delivered directly to the patient’s home.
Why It Matters Chronic wounds can significantly affect quality of life and place a burden on the healthcare system. Many patients currently pay out-of-pocket for consumables, which can delay care. CWCS removes this financial barrier, ensuring timely access to treatment.
How It Works - Health professionals assess the wound and order products online. A wide range of items is available via the CWCS product list Product List. Products are delivered to the patient’s home or clinic at no cost.
