Towards Wellness Plan Launched to Better Mental Health Outcomes
We are proud to launch the Towards Wellness Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan 2026-2031.
This plan has been developed with close collaboration between Adelaide PHN, the South Australian Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), and the metropolitan Adelaide Local Health Networks (LHNs), to improve the mental health and wellbeing outcomes across the Adelaide metropolitan region.
Development included broad stakeholder and community consultations, including people with lived experience, and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening how mental health and suicide prevention services are delivered across the region.
It builds on the foundational Towards Wellness Plan 2020-2025, and the reviewed and enhanced Towards Wellness Plan 2023-2025, and aims to build a more connected system that is easier to navigate and focused on delivering the right support at the right time and in the right place.
The plan identifies five Priorities for Action, focusing on needs-based solutions for underserved communities; fostering cross-service collaboration in the provision of holistic care; building the skillset and resilience of our workforce; and improving system performance through preventive care and early intervention.
The five priorities are:
- Access to Culturally Appropriate and Equitable Care
- Person-Centred and Responsive Holistic Care
- Accessible and Inclusive Early Intervention
- Strengthening Partnerships and Integration
- Workforce Sustainability and Development
Over the next five years, partners will work together to implement these priorities and deliver a mental health system that ensures better outcomes for everyone.
