Augmentations to eating disorder treatment: A promising pathway to improve treatment outcomes for patients

Current evidence-based treatments for eating disorders are effective in only 28-50% of cases, reflecting a broader issue in mental health, where even the best therapies leave many patients with ongoing problems. In this clinical education session, Dr. Pennesi will explore why augmenting treatment could improve outcomes for eating disorders. She will present data from two research projects with Professor Tracey Wade at the Flinders University Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing: a systematic review and meta-analysis on acute augmentations to psychological therapies, and a Delphi consensus study identifying essential transdiagnostic processes for augmenting treatment.
