Disasters, climate change and mental health

The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use at the University of Sydney has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to develop a series of on-demand webinars on evidence-based practice.

These webinars are freely available and focus on building capacity in relation to evidence-based practice approaches to the management and treatment of co-occurring alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health conditions.

The November webinar is on disasters, climate change and mental health.

Speakers include Professor Lisa Gibbs and by the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the potential long term mental health impacts of disaster exposure
  • Outline protective strategies for mental health and wellbeing in disaster contexts
  • Identify where to find helpful resources for working with communities affected by disaster
