Course Outline

The course covers the broad social and political issues as well as clinical options, incorporating cultural considerations into topics and resources.

Participants will:

  • Discuss the global, national and local overview of unintended pregnancy.
  • Consider the cultural implications of pregnancy from an Aboriginal perspective.
  • Learn about reproductive coercion, family and domestic violence in the context of pregnancy.
  • Develop an awareness of contraception options available in Australia including emergency contraception.
  • Explore a broader understanding of abortion, counselling responses to pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal pathways.
