Pregnancy Choices Training- Shine SA

Learn how to provide support and information through a greater understanding of pregnancy choices. This training explores the options available for pregnant people.

SHINE SA’s Pregnancy Choices Training covers the issues and topics that people may experience when choosing to either continue or not continue with their pregnancy. This course will include a variety of guest speakers that are experts in their field including abortion, counselling responses to pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal pathways.

The course is practical whilst also covering the broader social and political issues and clinical options for pregnancy, incorporating cultural considerations into topics and resources.

Participants will:

• discuss the global, national and local overview of unintended pregnancy
• consider the cultural implications of pregnancy from an Aboriginal perspective
• learn about reproductive coercion, family and domestic violence in the context of pregnancy
• develop an awareness of contraception options available in Australia including emergency contraception
• explore a broader understanding of abortion, counselling responses to pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal pathways.
