STI & BBV Workshop for Nurses and Midwives

This three-hour workshop provides an interactive and engaging overview of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs). It will build your general understanding of STIs and BBVs and will include clinical presentations of STIs and BBVs, testing, treatment, management, discussion of the Australia STI Management Guidelines and more.

Participants will gain an understanding of:

• The clinical presentation of STIs and BBVs
• Taking a sexual health history
• Consultation and counselling
• How and when to test
• Routine screening in priority populations
• Treatment and management of STIs and BBVs
• Partner notification and notifiable infections

Eligibility: This course is open to nurses, midwives, Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners, AMIC workers and other health workers who are interested in developing their knowledge of STIs and BBVs.
