Supporting Through Loss April 2026

Supporting Through Loss is a two-hour training designed for professionals across diverse settings who support individuals experiencing grief. Whether you’re in healthcare, community services, administration, or any other role, everyone has a part to play in supporting others through loss.

This session offers a safe, supportive space to reflect on your role in grief support — both its strengths and its boundaries. Rather than adding to your workload, the training focuses on integrating compassionate, practical approaches into the care you already provide.

You’ll also have the chance to reflect on how you experience grief at work and learn helpful ways to tend to your own grief. Facilitated by experienced practitioners who are passionate about holding space for difficult conversations. You'll leave with the knowledge, strategies, and tools to recognise and respond to grief with greater confidence, compassion, and clarity.

Throughout the training, we will:

·       Bust grief myths.

·       Reflect on the complexity and deeply personal nature of grief.

·       Explore the different losses people experience beyond death-related loss.

·       Share strategies for recognising and tending to your own grief as a professional.

·       Provide relevant strategies to support individuals and families through grief and loss.

Deciding if this education session is right for you:

This training explores themes of grief, loss, and change. Despite the heavy topics we cover, most attendees leave feeling lighter and inspired to use the knowledge and skills shared. However, as you will learn in our training, grief is nonlinear, and big emotions can seemingly come out of nowhere. It is completely okay if you become emotional in the session; that’s normal! However, if you have experienced a recent loss, you might not feel ready to speak about your loss in a group setting. Please refer to the training overview and reflect on where you are at in your grieving journey to decide if it is the right time for you to participate in this training.
