New Community Youth Mental Health Service to be Established in Marion: Preferred Provider for headspace Marion Announcement

Adelaide PHN announces that Sonder has been selected to establish a headspace centre at Marion, to service the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide.
headspace is an Australian Government initiative that began in 2006 to provide early intervention mental health support and assistance for young people experiencing mild to moderate problems with their mental health.
Sonder was selected as the preferred provider of the service by Adelaide PHN, which manages the funding on behalf of the Australian Government following a competitive tender process.
The new centre will complement the other existing Adelaide headspace centres located at Edinburgh North, Adelaide, Port Adelaide and Onkaparinga providing assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties in conjunction with any co-occurring physical health, sexual health, alcohol and other drug and vocational needs.
headspace has a focus on early intervention, working with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives – to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their mental health in the future.
Sonder is currently working with Adelaide PHN, its consortium partners and young people to identify and secure a suitable site. Ideally the centre, which is scheduled to open in January 2021, will be located in close proximity to the Marion Shopping Centre making it easily accessible for young people and their families.
