Men’s Mental Health - time for change (19 Aug)
Wednesday, 19 August 2020 - Wednesday, 19 August 2020
Time: 6.00PM - 8.45PM
Venue: AMPHEaT 313 Payneham Road, Royston Park
Men’s mental health is a vital area to address due to the prevalence of a range of mental health issues (including anxiety, depression, substance-use issues and PTSD) and high rates of suicide in men. In addition, men often delay or avoid seeking assistance due to social factors including the stigma of mental illness. This workshop aims to increase knowledge and skill in relation to assessing and managing men’s mental health issues, including barriers to care, current treatment approaches and relevant community supports and resources.
An interactive presentation will be delivered by Dr Cate Howell OAM (author of “The Changing Man A mental health guide”, to be published in November 2020.
Suitable for GPs, nurses, allied health professionals, Local Health Network staff and mental health service providers.
