General Practitioner Psychiatry Support Line - Providing GPs with Direct Phone Access to a Psychiatrist to Support Provision of Mental Health Care

Adelaide PHN have recently contracted Pro Care Mental Health Services to provide the General Practitioner Psychiatry Support Line for GPs working across the metropolitan region.

This service is designed to help GPs manage the care of mental health consumers. The support line provides direct and timely phone access to a psychiatrist, to seek advice on diagnosis, investigations, medications and safety plans. It is not about triaging or referring consumers to a psychiatrist, but rather keeping consumers whose conditions are able to be treated within primary care under the care of their GP.

This service is provided to GPs for free and is available to all GPs working within metropolitan Adelaide. The service is accessible Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Adelaide metropolitan GPs can register online (click here) or over the phone by calling 1800 161 718.
Please note, online registration may take up to 24 hours to process and as part of registration, GPs will be required to provide their AHPRA registration number and practice details.
