Hereditary Haemochromatosis (HH) Pathway now live

The Hereditary Haemochromatosis (HH) Pathway is now available on HealthPathways SA.

Hereditary Haemochromatosis is a condition with an autosomal recessive inheritance pattern and incomplete penetrance, where excessive iron absorption leads to increased blood iron stores with deposition of iron in liver, heart, pancreas, pituitary, joints, and skin.

Did you know iron overload increases fracture and osteoporosis risk? Explore our new Haemochromatosis Pathway to find out the surveillance requirements for the condition. HealthPathways SA offers evidence-based practical guidelines tailored for SA GPs and health professionals.

Developed with valuable feedback from Dr. Asif Chinaratha, Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist consultant, this pathway focuses on effectively managing haemochromatosis. It provides concise guidance on when to refer to gastroenterology, key patient groups for investigations, risk factors for advanced liver fibrosis, and venesection protocols. Enhance your patient care with this streamlined, expert-informed resource.” – Dr Lucie Monet, GP Clinical Editor, HealthPathways SA.
