Our New Respiratory Clinic Opens for SA’s COVID-19 ‘Testing Blitz’

Our New Respiratory Clinic Opens for SA’s COVID-19 ‘Testing Blitz’

As South Australia launches a two-week COVID-19 ‘testing blitz’, a second Commonwealth-funded dedicated Respiratory Clinic has opened, this one in the southern Adelaide area.

Opening today, the Reynella Respiratory Clinic will support the assessment, testing and diagnosis of patients with mild-to-moderate respiratory symptoms…with all service free of charge.

The clinic’s opening coincides with the commencement of Premier Steven Marshall’s testing ‘blitz’ across the state, with the new clinic increasing the availability of testing services in Adelaide’s south, and supporting the state government’s new recommendation that anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath should be tested.

This is the second of the new GP-led clinics to open in the Adelaide region. The Central Adelaide Respiratory Clinic opened last week in Parkside, with a third clinic to begin operating shortly in the city’s north-east.

Supported by Adelaide PHN, the Respiratory Clinics add to SA Health’s testing services and will help to reduce pressure on hospitals and frontline health workers.

People experiencing respiratory symptoms can book an appointment at either clinic via the telephone or online.

Patients will be then allocated an appointment to be assessed by a GP and can access onsite testing for COVID-19. Patients will be provided initial advice for any condition diagnosed, after which ongoing care will transition back to their usual GP if appropriate. All Respiratory Clinic services will be provided at no cost to the patient.

The Reynella Respiratory Clinic opens from today, Thursday 16 April, with appointments available Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
