Welcome News For Mental Health Funding

Welcome News For Mental Health Funding

Today’s announcement from the Federal Minister for Health, Greg Hunt, to extend mental health funding through the PHNs is warmly welcomed by Adelaide PHN.

This announcement ensures that the funding we receive to commission primary mental health services – across the stepped care model, across age ranges and across our metropolitan community now have funding certainty until 2022. This provides the much needed reassurance that our community can continue to access the services they need, when they need them and where they need them. It provides certainty that our commissioned service providers need to ensure high quality, efficient and effective mental health service delivery.

We are also very pleased to see that there is a moderate increase in our forward projection funding for mental health service delivery – this will ensure that our services can become more sustainable as they seek to keep pace with rising costs.
